Paris, FR

Since its creation in 1877, La Bellevilloise has been committed to providing access to culture for all.

À propos

An independent, artistic and festive place! Founded in 1877 in the aftermath of the Commune, La Bellevilloise, Paris' first cooperative, was designed to give people of modest means access to political education and culture. From 1910 to 1949, La Bellevilloise played a leading role in the economic and cultural life of eastern Paris. It was a place of resistance, of the first "producer-to-consumer" commercial exchanges, of fair trade before its time, and of entertainment. Since 2005, Renaud Barillet, Fabrice Martinez and Philippe Jupin, a trio of movers and shakers from the performing arts, production and media sectors, have been reopening this historic Parisian landmark to Parisians, with a bold project: to revive the spirit of La Bellevilloise by creating a major independent venue for artistic and event activities for the public, businesses and the media, unique in Paris. Despite the hustle and bustle, you immediately feel at home in this atypical 2,000 m2 space. This is undoubtedly because this hotbed of resistance, founded in 1877 and taken over by the fine Cultplace team, has retained its DNA and still defends a rebellious, innovative spirit. Today, La Bellevilloise dedicates its 2000m2 to all forms of expression and experimentation: - For all: shows, festivals, concerts, clubbing, salons, exhibitions, fashion shows, courses and workshops, debates, film screenings, themed gatherings..
